A year in a home studio 5 & 6

Well, when your home studio also doubles as a transcription suite (sounds impressive, eh?) and half of Bluesjamtracks High Command, you don’t always get the time for making ill-conceived demo recordings. The past two weeks have mostly involved publicising bluesjamtracks.com and starting work on a second book of guitar transcriptions for Wishbone Ash.
I have been doing some recording as well, but I’ve nothing to play for you, for two reasons. Firstly, because lots of it was shite, so I just deleted it. Secondly, because I’ve been recording some little snippets for an idea which is still only half-formed. It also requires a little bit of web design, and I’m incredibly lazy. More details soon…

Through your first transcription book I’ve rediscovered Wishbone Ash, I’d forgotten quite how good they were. Have been having a great time playing selections from Argus. I particularly love the quiet section at the end of Ted Turner’s wah wah solo in the King Will Come
What are you planning for the second book of transcriptions - how about the missing tracks from Argus ?

Hi Nick,
There’s one more track from Argus (Warrior), along with a range of other eras… a bit more emphasis on the post-90s stuff this time, I think. Another couple of old ones we’re doing this time are Phoenix and Jailbait (and possibly Ballad of the Beacon).

Great job on what I’m really pleased to hear is the first Wishbone Ash tab book. I’ve spent many happy hours with a friend of mine, mainly working on FUBB, and this has inspired us to have a go at Outward Bound, too.
Both have more than two guitars going on and I have often thought they could do with a third guitarist on stage (and notice that Iron Maiden now have three).
And yay! Warrior is down for inclusion in book 2: I’ve never been able to work out the opening chord riffage. Ballad would be an excellent choice, IMO. Looking forward to it.
